      Their Stories

      Tim S.

Tim “Chief T” S. grew up working with his dad in their family owned meat business (where he first learned how to make beef jerky). At the age of seventeen he decided to pursue a career in firefighting so he enlisted in the United States Air Force. As a Fire Protection Specialist in the USAF he quickly realized that firefighting was his calling. Tim loved serving in the Air Force, but his ultimate goal was to become a municipal firefighter. After serving in active duty, he transferred to the Air National Guard where he deployed worldwide and served a total of 33 years before retiring. Tim had a long and productive career as a municipal firefighter serving as an EMT, Instructor, Hazardous Materials Technician, Technical Rescue Team member, Water Rescue Team member and Emergency Manager. Tim retired at the rank of Division Chief with the Reno Fire Department.

      Cori T.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, my Mom was an amazing cook. She took care of people through food, and loved to make all kinds of cuisine. I can remember being five years old when she first let me work at the stove in our family kitchen. We made Beef Stroganoff, my favorite dish. I became a paramedic for the Los Angeles Fire Department in 1988. The fire service became my second family. I wanted to cook like my Mom, so I attended chef school on my days off from the fire service. As I worked through the ranks, I worked numerous assignments, and became the permanent cook at many stations. I retired from the service as a Battalion Chief in 2017, after 29 years. As a first-responder, preparedness is always on your mind. We respond to incidents that show us the worst, and the best life has to offer. And being prepared helps so much in the recovery. Battalion Protein Products was born out of my love for healthy food, that tastes good, and keeps me going through this journey.
